Gathered here are the Oppositelock posts that people put a good deal of effort into writing on Wednesday. It includes the development of the Supra, welding wizardry, investing in cars and more.

The design process is a lengthy, painful one. The casual observer has no idea how delicate and meticulously precise the process of creating a new automotive form is. In terms of time scale, a motif is arrived at quickly on a piece of paper or digital tablet, but to arrive at that theme, hundreds of gorgeous little sketches are tossed, ignored, rejected. Styling is a systematic, brutal annihilation of creation where only one idea survives. As a result, we often discover the detritus of conception in the form of studio development sketches and photos. The last Supra development of course was no exception, spawning numerous prototype models during its formation in the early 1990's.

The number of vehicles that left a factory with giant animal-shaped hood emblems is very limited. Most famous is the Pontiac Firebird (Thunder-chicken) followed closely by the Mustang II Cobra (Psynake-a-delic), however there are a few more rare-birds out there, such as the El Camino Royal Knight edition.

I'm sure that all of us here on Oppo knows something about a car that others don't, or know about a car/company others don't. This is something I encounter whenever the question of a dream garage comes up here, I ALWAYS mention the Gilbern Invader and when I do there is always one or two people who say "man, that thing looks AWESOME why have I not heard about this before?".

for today's offering, coming to you from Lucerne, Switzerland, is another car from the house of Pininfarina. While the hatchback Alfa 33 was born in house, to make it a longroof this 1988 Alfa Romeo 33 Sportwagon's design was outsourced. This being a Quadrifoglio Verde trim means it was the sportiest of the Sportwagons, with a 1.7 liter flat four churning out a whopping 117 bhp. But it's a wagon, a stick, and clean. I figure around 7 grand to get it over all in.

I get a ton of questions about "walking the cup" specifically and "weaved" welds in general. For the most part I walk the cup or freehand weave for fun, to stay sharp... in my line of work I rarely(occasionally, but not often) encounter the need to do it. When I was at Chrysler and I did the tig 6g test, I did walk the cup from the root to the cover pass. It's the go to technique for tig pipe welding, and not because it looks cool; it's a fast and efficient way to dump a bunch of filler into a joint with a tig torch.

I just opened up an E*trade(TM) account. Not because I was interested in investing. I did it so I would feel more like an adult (it worked). After buying stock in Ford and a couple of Pharmaceutical companies, I sat back and prepared to watch the money pile in. Serious investors know that is not exactly what happened. Apparently I have the market sense of a copper tub, except the copper tub has a much larger market value than me.

This series is devoted to telling you all the fun I get to endure when it comes to every car I've ever owned. I've only been driving for 8 years and already had more car problems than all of my friends combined. Today's part in the series is going to detail my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. This car was purchased with the money I got from selling my roasty, toasty Neon. This car was my first endeavor into Craigslist and it was definitely an eye opener.

With the 2013 WRC season approaching its evening hours I can't help but evaluate this year's fantasy competition and begin to think ahead to the 2014 season. We've had a great points battle, gained some excellent competitors in the league, and definitely grown and developed. I've had a lot of fun, even though my roster's been cursed for pretty much the entire summer. That said I think there's room for improvement, and I'd like the input of my fellow competitors.

I think that's enough 'Best of Oppo' posts for today. I hope to have enough time to knock out Thursday's and Friday's posts tomorrow. Then I'll be all caught up.
